FOR KIDS 5 AND OLDER . THERAPIST CREATED
Frozen when a friendship gets hard. Unsure what to say when they’ve been left out. Let’s change that!
A video course and workbook that gives your child a real system for making friends, working through conflicts, and handling the moments a friendship gets hard - built by a licensed clinical social worker and child therapist, not a generic worksheet packet.
Sound familiar? “I don’t know what to say when they’re mean to me.”
-They don’t know how to start a conversation with someone new, so they just hang back.
-A disagreement with a friend feels like proof the friendship is over, not something that just happens.
-Getting left out feels like evidence something’s wrong with them.
-They go quiet about what’s happening socially-not because they don’t care, but because they don’t have the words.
-You’re guessing at the right things to say in the moment, with n o script to reach for.
Every child’s friendships have up and downs - that’s normal, not a warning sign. What matters is whether your child has real tools for the moments that are hard. This course is build to be exactly that.
The Script Most Courses Skip
"Just go make other friends, you'll be fine."
"That sounds really hard. Do you want help figuring out what to do, or do you just want me to listen?"
What This Course Is
Not more worksheets. A real system your child can carry into the friendships they haven’t made yet.
This course gives your child language for what actually makes someone a good friend, a real tool for starting a conversation and working through disagreements, and - the part most friendship content skips - a way to handle the moment a friendship changes or ends without concluding something is wrong with them. Every skill is practiced, not just explained.
The System Inside
Four stages. One Plan your child actually remembers.
Understand Friendship
What actually separates a friend from someone you just know — and the two things you're always in charge of: how you treat people, and who you spend your time with.
Communicate & Connect
Real conversation starters, perspective-taking, and active listening — the tools for starting a friendship and actually being heard in one.
Work Through Conflict
I-Statements and the Four-Part Apology, practiced on real situations — so your child can say what's bothering them, and make it right when they're the one who got it wrong.
Handle the Hard Moments
Trust, secrets, peer pressure, and — the lesson most friendship courses don't have — what to do when a friendship isn't working.
Meet your Child’s Guide
Katie Peterson, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker & Child Therapist
Hi! I’m Katie a child therapist with over ten years of experience working with kids and families. My approach is warm, practical, and built on one belief: Kids need skills, not shame. This course is built the same way that I work in the therapy room-concrete, strengths-based, evidence-informed, and empowering.
What is Inside
Five short modules. Nothing that feels like more school.
What Is Friendship?
What actually separates a friend from someone you just know — and the choice your child gets to make every day about what kind of friend to be.

The Circle of Trust, secrets vs. private information, six peer-pressure strategies, and the tool most courses skip: what to do when a friendship isn't working.

Give Your Child a Plan for the Moment You Don’t Know What to Say
Six People, Six Compliments
One specific, genuine compliment to six different people in one week — turning a skill they just learned into something they actually did.
A Peak Inside the Course
Here’s What It Actually Sounds Like
Not a worksheet. Not a lecture.
"An I-statement isn't a punishment. It's information the other person didn't have."
"I feel sad when you take my toy, because I don't get to play with it. I would like you to give it back." Four parts, and you've said something true without starting a fight.
"I'm sorry for... It was wrong because... Next time, I will..."
The Four-Part Apology — for the times your child is the one who made the mistake. Practiced on real scenarios before they write one they actually owe someone.
"That does not mean something is wrong with you."
"Friendships shift. People change, groups change, interests change — and sometimes that happens and it has nothing to do with anything you did."
The Circle of Trust.
Your child maps their own relationships — who's in the closest ring, who's further out — and notices what the people they trust most actually have in common.
What Actually Changes
What You Will Notice By The End
- Making friends feels like a mystery, or a risk.
- A disagreement feels like proof the friendship is ending.
- Being left out feels like evidence something's wrong with them.
- They go quiet about it — not because they don't care, but because they don't have the words.
- Your child has a real process for starting a friendship and working through a disagreement.
- Real language for hard feelings — an I-statement, a four-part apology — tools that are theirs now.
- A framework for the moment a friendship changes, so it doesn't mean something's wrong with them.
- You can see the change, concretely, in their own before/after check-in.

Questions Parents Ask
Before You Get Started
-
Built for Kids 5 and older. Younger kids may need a grown-up to read prompts aloud or walk through certain pages together-especially the thought-checking pages in Module 2, which involve real evidence-based reasoning. Older kids can move through most of it independently.
-
About 57 minutes of video across 32 short lessons, plus workbook time. Most families move through one module at a time rather than all at once-there’s no need to rush it.
-
Some of it, yes-especially the parent-only lessons and the pages built for a conversation. Most of the video lessons are made for your child to watch independently, at their own pace.
-
You don’t need to wait until the night before a major test.
In fact, learning and practicing the skills before anxiety is at its highest gives your child time to figure out which strategies work best for them.
You can also return to specific lessons before future tests whenever your child needs a refresher.
-
The course can be used as an educational resource alongside therapy. If your child is experiencing significant anxiety that is interfering with school, sleep, eating, relationships, or everyday functioning, consider talking with your child’s pediatrician or a qualified mental health professional about whether additional support is appropriate.
-
No. The Test Anxiety Course is an educational skill-building resource. Purchasing the course does not establish a therapist-client relationship, and the course isn’t intended to diagnose or treat a mental health condition or replace individualized mental health care.
-
Instant access to all 32 video lessons and a printable 82-page workbook, with lifetime access to revisit before any future test.
