Supporting Young Children with Anxiety at School and at Home

Anxiety can show up as worry, avoidance, perfectionism, or frequent reassurance-seeking. This training helps adults recognize early signs of anxiety and respond in ways that reduce stress rather than unintentionally reinforcing it.

Children learn best when they feel safe. This training focuses on creating emotionally supportive environments that help children feel secure, connected, and ready to learn — especially during moments of stress or dysregulation.

Grounded in Clinical Expertise, Delivered with Warmth

Why Work With Me

I’m Katie Peterson, a licensed clinical social worker and child therapist with over a decade of experience supporting children, families, and adults who cared for them. In addition to my clinical work, I regularly provide trainings for parents, educators, and school communities, helping adults feel more confident supporting children through big emotions, anxiety, and challenging behaviors.

I’ve worked closely with preschools, elementary schools, PTAs, and parent groups delivering trainings that meet people where they are - whether that’s a classroom full of young learners or a room of parents looking for reassurance and guidance. My trainings are informed by real- life classroom dynamics, family systems, and the every day challenges adults face when supporting young children.

What Sets My Trainings Apart

Experience with both parents and educators

I understand the unique roles, pressures, and perspectives of each — and tailor content so it feels relevant, respectful, and practical.

Clinically grounded and developmentally informed

Trainings are rooted in child development, attachment, and evidence-based therapeutic practice.

Warm, relatable, and judgment-free

Parents and educators consistently share that they feel understood, supported, and relieved after my trainings.

Practical guidance that works in real settings

A bridge between home and school

My work helps create shared understanding and consistent support across the environments where children spend the most time.
